Eastside Dogs – Dogs From The Eastside (LP, KB Records, 2024)
Straight from Germany’s better half comes Eastside Dogs, an all-new outfit featuring some familiar faces from bands like Haymaker, Martens Army, The Patrons and probably a dozen more! In 2023 these lads already gave a taste of things to come through their split 12” with the Finnish lads of Hats & Caps, but now the boys from the east come with a full-blown attack in the form of debut LP “Dogs From The Eastside”!
Released on 13-12 (obviously no coincidence) by KB Records, “Dogs From The Eastside” features a total of twelve raucous streetpunk tracks, including the three tracks from the aforementioned split 12” and a cover of Cock SParrer’s “Running Riot”. Blasting out of your speakers in a rapid pace, the album barely lasts 30 minutes and combines relatively short and explosive tracks such as “Struggle” and “A.D.H.D.” with boisterous sing-alongs suchs as title-track “Dogs From The Eastside”, the ultra-catchy “Streetrat”, “Fake Revolution” and “Give Us A Future”.
No surprise, but those four tracks are undoubtedly my favorite tracks on this LP, along with “Enjoy It While It Lasts” - a calm, semi-acoustic self-reflecting song that praises both past and present. It would have been the album’s perfect ending, but as stated earlier the album features a cover and it ends with just that. Of course it’s well executed, but does the world really needs another recorded cover of this classic? Probably not.
Other than that “Dogs From The Eastside” is a fun and rip roaring album with songs that will get a crowd moving and singing along in no-time! With that being said I believe the first press of this record is as good as sold out (50 copies on black vinyl and 200 copies on white marbled vinyl), making a second run almost inevitable! Great!
